Installing Modem driver

MVN. please feel free to post to the thread. There are a lot of people here that know a lot more than I do on many subjects and many that will benefit from the answers to your questions (including myself). Also I need thread scrutiny as I make my share of mistakes.

I will assume you are using Win95 or Win98. There may be more than one way to install a driver. First you have to get the latest version of the driver. Go to start/settings/control panel/modems and find out the make and model of the modem. You will also find modem settings here if you want to change them. You may find a diagnostics routine here too. Go to the website and download the latest version. Then go to start/settings/control panel/system and then device manager. Click on modem and then properties/drivers/update and follow the instructions. You will have to Windows where to find the new driver.

Let us know where you get stuck.

Have you tried the laptop on a different telephone system? Do you have the same problem?
