The fidelity select brokerage is a good way to spread the risk. If the media is to be believed, the major banks and brokerage firms have all gone to hell. No one likes them any more. All the more reason to buy these stocks. If you do the opposite of the what the media/insiders want you to do, then you are on the right path. At all times, caution must be taken. But, I don't see a big risk in buying the major money center banks at 50% below their previous highs. For those people who are not sure, look at the long term charts for these stocks. Over a 1 to 3 year period most of them have been in an uptrend.
