I dont think you can make a call about the Clinton effect on business with regard to his stance on this issue.
Michelle, I know. :-) Clinton has nothing to do with that. Joel Klein just sounds like an extremist, and those views may not have roots in political philosophy. I'll take the original comment back, so we don't have to waste anymore time on it.
Id say you have to give his administration at least partial credit for those businesses and the productivity improvements generated by them.
But what has he done? Family leave bill. Fine by me. Score one good thing by Clinton on behalf of family values, and score it double because it was a good thing for workers.
Business? It is Congress that makes the laws. I do think that private enterprise and private citizens have a heavy tax load, and can't bear much more, if we want growth. I really can't find where Clinton has contributed to productivity or the health of the economy. I can't think of anything. Presidents are good for social issues and moral examples, and foreign policy. I used to blame Carter for the high interest rates during his tenure, but I don't really think that way anymore. Carter just happened to be President during that cycle of factors (whatever they were) which produced high interest.
The President needs to be a virtuous man, a strong man with a very dear love of his country. Clinton is not that man. He is a weak man who knows how to manipulate people. He is a self-centered man who, instead of asking what he can do for his country, asks what the country should do for him.
James Traficant (sp?): He's an awesome patriot. Obvious great love for his country. He thinks the President should be an example which Americans can aspire to. Interesting contrast, where Clinton thinks that America should give him a break and "understand that I'm at rock bottom. Hmmm. With regards to? What did Clinton mean by "rock bottom"? I think he must have been referring to rock bottom morally, rock bottom with respect to self-discipline, rock bottom with respect to love of country, and rock bottom with respect to aspiring to be a virtuous and selfless example towards people who are weaker than him.
Yes, Clinton is at rock bottom. Shield your eyes, Michelle, because it's not something a nice girl like you should be looking at. You deserve better than Clinton as your President. You deserve a better man: A man who won't stab you in the back. A man who can make promise and sincerely try his best to deliver. A man who will undertake to work towards a goal, not because some PAC paid his campaign a lot of money, but because the goal is right and good for America, and the President believes that in his heart. A man who can show you what it means to be worthy of your trust.
It doesn't seem like that's too much to ask in a President. |
