Dynamicsoft Announces Industry's First Java Technology-Based Voice Over IP Framework Booth # 72 September 16, 1998 WASHINGTON, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ via NewsEdge Corporation -- dynamicsoft(TM), the world's first supplier of Java(TM) technology-based voice/fax over IP software solutions, announced the first Java technology-based IP software solution at the Fall '98 VON (Voice on the Net) Conference. Based on industry-standard protocols, dynamicsoft's jVoIP(TM) Framework enables communications equipment manufacturers and service providers the ability to rapidly build services for transmitting voice/fax over IP networks. The jVoIP Framework will be available in Q4 1998.
The dynamicsoft jVoIP Framework is a comprehensive set of "plug-n-play " software modules, which provides infrastructure to deliver voice/fax over IP networks. It is designed to become a leading platform for the development of enhanced applications in converged networks. The " plug-n-play" nature of the software provides customers with a reliable large-scale solution to meet service providers' needs and offers the flexibility to add new software solutions and upgrades as needed.
"VoIP software companies that address the service provider's need to move beyond short-term arbitrage profits and develop enhanced applications will succeed," said Jeff Pulver, CEO of pulver.com. "dynamicsoft's VoIP approach, with a focus on Java technology, has the potential to make a significant impact on the rapidly changing VoIP marketplace."
The dynamicsoft jVoIP Framework
dynamicsoft's jVoIP Framework is specifically designed to run on open standard computing platforms, including those from Sun Microsystems. The " plug-n-play" nature of the jVoIP Framework provides customers with the flexibility to implement large-scale VoIP solutions to meet their needs and offers the flexibility to add new enhanced applications. dynamicsoft's jVoIP Framework is designed to be a leading platform for the development of enhanced applications in converged networks. The jVoIP Framework, developed with ISO- 9001 quality, consists of the following modules:
jGateway(TM) - This server-based software transforms voice/fax traffic from traditional circuit-switched networks into IP packets and then transmits those packets over IP networks like an Intranet. Conversely, jGateway transforms IP packets back into standard signals for outbound circuit-switched transmission.
jDirectory(TM) - This module adds functionality to the jVoIP Framework, giving it the ability to store routing, customer and authentication information and gateway IP address resolution within a VoIP infrastructure.
jCallAccounting(TM) - This module provides scalable call accounting capabilities, with a web-based user interface for report generation and database maintenance. jCallAccounting readily interfaces with proprietary and third-party billing systems.
jManagement(TM) - jManagement provides mission-critical monitoring of the jVoIP environment, including gateways and call accounting and directory databases. Intelligent software agents constantly monitor the health of voice-enabled applications, databases and system resources, as well as overall network performance.
jSIP(TM) - jSIP is a Java technology implementation of the Session Initiated Protocol (SIP). This module provides call control for IP communications. jSIP is the industry's first Java technology implementation of the IETF SIP standard.
"Rapid change is the only constant in today's networking environment, " said Dennis Specht, co-CEO of dynamicsoft. "Our IP-telephony software approach enables our customers to invest in an open platform that will continue to adapt to their growing business needs."
dynamicsoft has initially partnered with Solect Technology Group and is working with Sun Microsystems to bring its products to market. The company's partners represent "best-in-class" for specific areas of expertise -- networking, hardware, software and professional services. dynamicsoft is committed to providing customers with the highest quality solutions.
"Sun is pleased that dynamicsoft has chosen to base its voice-over-IP solution on Sun's enabling technologies, providing customers with a proven, scalable network computing solution," said Kelvin Rowlette, director IP Network Services for Sun Microsystems. "This offering takes full advantage of the scalability and multiprocessor performance of Sun to deliver a world-class IP telephony solution."
"In the IP-telephony market, no one company can do everything well," said Jim Nelson, co-CEO of dynamicsoft. "At dynamicsoft, we believe it is critical to align ourselves with best-in-class companies to offer our customers a best- in-class solution that meets their VoIP needs."
