Evans, CEO of GeoCities (Nasdaq: GCTY - news), announced today the appointment of Bruce J. Zanca to the position of Vice President of Communications of the Internet firm. Mr. Zanca, 38, previously held the position of Vice President of Corporate Communications at the magazines owned by Mortimer Zuckerman which include U.S. News & World Report, Fast Company and the Atlantic Monthly. At GeoCities Mr. Zanca will manage the company's public affairs, media relations, government affairs and investor relations efforts. Mr. Zanca will work in the firm's offices in Manhattan and will report to Mr. Evans.
Mr. Zanca was a deputy White House press secretary under Marlin Fitzwater and was later public relations adviser to President George Bush. Previously he served in senior communications positions at the Justice Department, Commerce Department, and on the staff of the vice president of the United States.
