PR Newswire - September 15, 1998 12:51

New Solution Ideal for Developing Diverse Range of High-End Communications Equipment

ALAMEDA, Calif., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Wind River Systems (Nasdaq: WIND), the leading

hardware is ideal for developing a diverse range of high-end communications equipment such as
remote access concentrators, regional office routers, cellular base stations and telecom switching
equipment.

"The sexy Internet-enabled devices garner lots of media attention, but not one of them would work
without the 'plumbing' -- the high-end communications equipment that makes connectivity possible,"
commented Curt Schacker, vice president of marketing for Wind River Systems. "Wind River
software can be found throughout the Internet infrastructure and we are pleased to offer Tornado
on Motorola's PowerQUICC II for the latest leading-edge communications equipment."

"Wind River and Motorola share a common vision for the needs of the embedded systems developer.
PowerQUICC II and the Tornado development environment will offer a robust foundation on which
