I have been re-reading some of Alexis de Tocqueville's Democracy in America. I hope our congress will review his writings assiduously. I found a passage that seemed particularly relevant to Clintons job approval numbers.... "It is difficult to draw a man out of his own circle to interest him in the destiny of state, because he does not clearly understand what influence the destiny of the state can have upon his own lot." Let's hope that our citizens will take time to consider the underlying threat to our democracy if we do not insist upon the POTUS adhering to the same standards applied to the common man. If Mr. Clinton's violations of law are allowed to go unpunished, his legacy will be that under his tenure America has succumbed to despotism. regards, bp
