Happy Note to a Sad Story: Microprose to Lose Race As Hasbro completes its purchase of Microprose, its been reported by NGO that company head honcho Steve Race is on his way out. Unfortunately what the Hasbro didn't mention in its press releases, however, is that staffing redundancies could mean that up to 60 Microprose workers, most of them on the company's U.S. sales, marketing, and administration staffs, will be out of work. "There will be some integration," said a Hasbro spokesperson. "There will be some consolidation." Perhaps the most important loss (haha, what a load of BS), however, will be the departure of Steve Race, Microprose's co-founder and head honcho. Race will be leaving the merged company, the Hasbro spokesperson said, but no specific date has been set for his departure. One source close to Microprose said Race's departure was set in the original acquistion deal. (Why doesn't this surprise me) According to Hasbro, Gilman Louie and Tim Christian of Microprose will be staying on board; Christian will run the merged company's daily operations with Hasbro's Barry Jafrato. Cheers Bill P.S. The news about the other employees is a shame and I feel sorry for them. Mr Race sure did a fine job of screwing up peoples lives and a good company. I wonder if he'll put that on his resume ??
