It'll take at least a year before we see a product with software encoding using Katmai instructions. Then we need to see systems built around it and then those systems have to compete with an application specific solution. Also the Katmai CPU has to also simutaneously encode while decoding and cost less than $50. Maybe they can license C-Cubes patented Encoding algorithm.
