<Launched in 1987, the Nasdaq-100(R) is a capitalization-weighted index comprising 100 of the largest non-financial stocks that list on the Nasdaq National Market(R) and is a benchmark for large growth stocks traded on Nasdaq(R). So far this year, the Nasdaq-100 Index has risen 38.3 percent. >

QWST became a Nasdaq 100 Index stock on August 28 th. This was a significant event as most of the volatility in the Nasdaq originates from these 100 stocks, which include such names as Microsoft, Cisco and Intel. Today marked YHOO's first day as a Nasdaq 100 stock (replacing WCOM)

There are plenty of mutual fund families that offer their own Nasdaq 100 Index fund.
