Ratan:
So you want to learn Sanskrit, well it is not all that difficult if you put your mind to it irrespective of where you are or you can come to Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit in Kaladi,Kerala and spend a year.BTW Kaladi in Kerala is the birth place of Adi Sankara (788-820 A.D) and hence the name of the University.I have been to Kaladi and it is green and beautiful I must say.

Here is a bit about Adi Sankara just in case you didn't know.

Sankaracharya was born towards the end of the eighth century A.D., at Kaladi, a village in Central Kerala. He was the only son of a devout Nambudiri Brahmin couple, Sivaguru and Aryamba. It is believed that he was born as a result of their long prayers to Lord Siva of the famous Vrishabhachaleswara temple at Trichur.....

"Access to the Vedas is the greatest privilege this century may claim over all previous centuries. In the whole world, there is no study so beneficial and so elevating as that of the Upanishads. It has been the solace of my life. It will be the solace of my death."

- German Philosopher Schopenhauer

Modern Hinduism can be dated from the days of Adi Sankaracharya (8th century AD), by far the most important of the Hindu reformers. One of the greatest intellectual giants of all time, Adi Sankracharya brought about the spiritual unity of India by harmonizing and organizing the vast and complex Vedic literature, and purging Hinduism of many evil cults and practices.

Among the most durable monuments to his legacy are the famous monasteries of Sringeri Math on the Sringeri Hills in Karnataka, the Sarada Math at Dwaraka in Gujarat, the Govardhana Math at Puri in Orissa and the Jyotir Math at Badrinath on the snowy heights of the Himalayas. He also assigned to each Math one Veda. The Rig Veda went to the Govardhana Math, Yajur Veda to the Sringeri Math, Sama Veda to the Sarada Math, and Atharva Veda to the Jyotir Math.
