As disgusted as I have become with this company, Corso is correct. Depending upon the level of the accountants being used, the company is probably being charged somewhere between $125 and $250 per hour, per person, by the accounting firm. If there is clean-up/catch-up work to be done, it obviously makes sense to use the company's own accounting/clerical staff to do the work. You don't want to pay an outside CPA to do entry level account reconciliations, journal entries, data entry, etc.
