I did my first online trading with Brown today. Very fast executions, a price improvement on a limit order, and good web site. It took them about 15 minutes to deduct each transaction from my balance (Datek does it instantly). Two drawbacks: you get a low rate of interest on cash in the account and I believe the total has to be $1000 or more to receive interest (I'll check this out) and the interest is (I believe) 3% on cash balances; 2nd, the number of free quotes are limited to 100 with an additional 100 added to your total for each trade (Datek is unlimited).
