QUALCOMM Announces Intention to Proceed With Leap Wireless
International Spin-off

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM) today announced
that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has indicated that it has no further comments to the
registration statement filed by QUALCOMM's spin-off company, Leap Wireless International, Inc.
QUALCOMM intends to proceed with the spin-off and anticipates that the distribution of Leap Wireless
common shares will take place after the close of market trading on September 23, 1998 (the "Distribution
Date").
Regular public trading of Leap Wireless shares under the ticker symbol "LWIN" is expected to begin on
the day following the Distribution Date, on or about Thursday, September 24, 1998. In addition, the
Company anticipates that "when issued" trading of Leap Wireless shares using the ticker symbol "LWINv"
will begin on the Distribution Date on or about September 23, 1998.
