The following message located at celltalk.com was posted on the forum for APC's Washington, D.C./Baltimore PCS customers:

Was is Albany NY today on business, stopped by a local Radio Shack store to purchase batteries for pager. To my surprise I saw a Sprint PCS handset made by Sony & Qualcomm. When I inquired about the same, the salesman told me Sprint was launching in Albany & Syracuse NY on the 26th of this month! Salesman was real excited about the new technology coming to the area. Was able to check out phone, real nifty! System launch will include Call line ID, Voice mail indicator (Does not indicate how many messages are waiting, only that there are voice messages being stored), 1st incoming minute free, call waiting, conference calling. Had full signal strength in the store, I'm not sure how far away the closest tower was though. Salesman said coverage was excellent all through the area. He also said they were supposed to launch on the 17th, but Sprint wanted to insure proper coverage to satisfy all their new customers. Nice work Sprint!! Does anyone know if this is the same phone that PrimeCo uses in their coverage areas? This phone has a Sony label on front with a Qualcomm label under the sliding ear piece. Model # CM-D600S Does anyone have any info when Sprint PCS CDMA will be available in the Long Island NY area? Thanks! Merry Cristmas & Happy new year to all!! TimII
