I have been following this thread for 3 months for news about Microsoft. All we seem to get is flames by EE types who hate the product, the company, and especially Bill Gates. You all remind me of my EE son-in-law who wouldn't switch to Windows 95 because he hates Bill so much. What gets me is that he is a libertarian who is rational about business on every other subject, but when it comes to MSFT, he goes off the rails. I see the same reaction in most of the people who post to this board. I think it must be a combination of 1: The product isn't the "engineered " best available. 2: You are forced to use their standard, and 3: you have an underlying hatred of a company who has a natural monopoly. You guys don't post to the anti-Microsoft thread because it's no fun "Preaching to the choir". It sure gets tiresome screening through the petulant whining from people in the industry who can't stand Microsoft.
