<< And unbalanced.>>
Yet another personal attack - don't resort to that, it's unlike you and unnecessary. You can make a point without attacking me. I actually will pay more attention to you if you make reasoned arguments, and less attention if you attack.
<<To compare the severity of he accusations against Clinton with Watergate is simply absurd. >>
Filegate involves the use of the FBI files to create an enemies list and a database to be used to influence future elections. It involves digging up dirt on political opponents. Assuming that the charges are true, it is a very serious felony - far more serious than anything Nixon was accused of, IMHO.
Travelgate involved the use of the FBI to investigate the Travel Office principals, and allegedly involved a threat against people being talked to by the FBI, that if they didn't cooperate with the FBI, they would be getting visits from the IRS. How is that less serious than what Nixon was accused of? Remember, many of Clinton's political opponents are accusing him of using the IRS to intimidate them, and have reported on being investigated by the FBI soon after coming out against Clinton's policies publicly.
Please note that I have never said Clinton actually did any of these things, only that he is accused of it, and that I am curious as to how it will all play out. The accusations are every bit as serious as the Nixon issues, maybe more so. The main difference is that the Nixon abuses were either proven or admitted, and Clinton may either be innocent or better at covering up. |
