Jim You don't need to go to Mexico to see how large business and government are poisoning people. Some of the Large "factory farms" inside the US. that have poisoned the land and water surrounding these farms and now are attempting to have the federal government pay for the clean up. Case#1 would be Tyson. They, along with the shift after NAFTA, have all but destoryed the independent farmer, now those large farms are trying to avoid regulation and clean up costs by saying that would hurt the independent. Seems like a more politically correct statement, even though it's completely misleading.
Case #2, The great lakes now are completely filled with something called mussels, they attach themselves to everything. Boats, close drainage pipes, and have done severe damage to the local fish. Where did with come them? Large shipping boats that dump there holding tanks inside the harbors. Now, who gets stuck with the multi billion dollar bill. Once again the taxpayers. Sure seems cheap to buy products from some of these outfits when the price at the store is only the beginning.
point being, this multi-national service economy is being driven by half costs. Half being paid when you buy the merchandise and the other half when you get nailed for paying the clean up... and along the way killing every small operator. Which makes every community more reliant on them,, what a web we weave. |
