Given that at this point in time each share buy back will cost the company ~$3, I tend to agree (somewhat reluctantly). But there are bigger problems at the company that need adressing. This quick fix will not have a lasting effect. Such tactics should be used as attacks on a pressure point when a turning point is in sight. Otherwise it will be a waste.

At the moment this is how I see 3Dfx's chances: In 5 years

50% 3Dfx has ceased to exist as an independant company (either gone bust or bought out)

40% 3Dfx is one of the 4 or 5 surviving graphics companies with market cap of ~$1 B or more.

10% 3Dfx continues to muddle through somewhat like SIII and TRID have
