Inquiry to and response from Neurostock re: verification periods.
I sent off this inquiry today and rec'd an almost immediate response regarding verification procedures as follows: Further discussion of this subject is welcome.
Hi There, As you are aware, Jay and myself have initiated a forum for discussion of Neurostock on Silicon Investor. What I've found is that I'm getting e-mailed many inquiries from interested prospects and current users that are unable to post to the thread because they're not members. They're asking many questions regarding the interpretation of the FAQ's on your thread and from the programs help files. It's generally agreed that your product is first class although the majority feels that the documentation is at times ambiguous, and would be more helpful if it contained more examples to clarify the text.
Many of the questions I've rec'd are regarding the verification function of the program. Since there is nothing in the documentation, or FAQ's that addresses this I don't know how to answer the questions. We all would like to know if the program has the ability to run any type of verification on the trained nets, and if so, what exactly are the procedures for performing it and generating the verification reports?? Since many people are reading our site, I'll post this inquiry and your response.
Thanks for your time

The following response is from Mr A Cilia, the creator of the Neurostock program.
The verification period is simply a set of data that the neural network does not train on, predictions during that period are based solely on what the network learned during the training period. How the network perfoms during that verification period is an indication of how well the network is trained, and also how predictable the stock is.
BTW, congratulations to you and Jay for the discussion forum. I am glad to read that the software is helping (and keeping out of trouble) the two of you.
