SEPTEMBER 17, 1998 MONTREAL, QUEBEC--LGS Group Inc. is pleased to announce that it has been awarded by the Swiss corporation Unicible an important contract related to systems conversion to the new Euro currency. The contract, for approximately $1.4 million, is critical to Unicible, since it will allow the company to handle transactions in Euro, which will be in use next year in Europe.
Unicible is one of Switzerland's most important information technology groups in the banking industry. Unicible is in charge of all the electronic transactions for four important cantonal banks who own the consortium. These banks serve an important segment of French-speaking customers of Switzerland.
Raymond Lafontaine, President and CEO of LGS, announced the contract at the annual shareholders' meeting. "Just as for the Year 2000, LGS is poised to help its clients make the transition to the Euro", he said.
Andre Gauthier, Senior Executive Vice President, indicated that this is a significant development for LGS in Switzerland, one which increases LGS' positioning in Europe and therefore contributes to the company's objectives of European diversification and growth. A dozen LGS employees are working on this project, and this was an incentive for LGS to incorporate in Switzerland, in Lausanne.
LGS Group is one of Canada's largest information technology consulting firms specializing in management and systems integration. With annual sales exceeding $134 million, LGS employs approximately 1,600 professionals in 16 offices in Canada and Europe. The company is active in most of the private and public sectors.
