NEW YORK, Sept 17 (Reuters) - Merrill Lynch said Thursday it
raised its 1999 earnings estimate on shares of Advanced Micro Devices Inc. to $0.70 a share from
break even, citing the greater success of the new K6 chip.

-- Now expects AMD to turn profit of $0.14 a share in fourth quarter compared to previous
break-even estimate.

-- Expects AMD to report loss of $0.96 a share in 1998.
-- Stock up 1-3/8 to 18-1/8.
