I have a taxable account and a tax-deferred account at Waterhouse. I have some in-the-money calls that I may hold to expiration and exercise. The calls are in the taxable account as required since a tax-deferred account does not permit option purchases. My question is can I use the tax-deferred account to buy and hold the underlying stock when the calls are exercised ?
