Qwest teams with Netscape to market services Denver-based IP-telephony provider Qwest Communications this morning announced a three-year alliance with famed Web-browser developer Netscape Communications that calls for creation of a browser system known as Netscape Contact that will let customers manage their own telephone and Internet communications. The system will feature an electronic "inbox" to keep tabs on LD calls, conference calls, faxes, emails and Internet access. Also under terms of the agreement, Netscape will utilize bandwidth along Qwest nationwide fiber-optic network now under construction to improve the performance of its content-rich Netscape Netcenter Web site. The deal calls for Qwest sales agents to market Netscape software to business customers, as well. Netscape Contact is expected to be introduced by the end of the month.
