Yeah, I was surprised also. I think what probably happened was that way too late for Matrox and others to change their plans, MS let all the developers know they were including MM in the 98 release. That may be why so few of the card makers had drivers ready to make MM work with their cards.

I would think that through this next cycle (season) you'll see an acceleration of cards that make themselves MM capable, and with it, a corresponding drop in the MM cards from Appian, Colorgraphx, and Matrox, notwithstanding their public statements to the contrary. Right now, they probably are stuck with ramp up costs in producing these cards that they need to recover. Only when it is very clear to them that they won't be able to, will they see that they must drop the prices significantly, if they want to get rid of inventory.

Just my uneducated opinion.
