Agreed, Treetopflier is pretty savvy, we might disagree on the stock, but I like having different perspectives around. Especially from people with industry experience.

If you look at Treetop's views he/she is generally skeptical and nervous about the impact of y2k and its potential diversion of resources away from enterprise technology spending. He/she's been massively short and massively correct.

I do agree with David's observation about HYSL's ability to create product versus IBM, Oracle and SAP. Yes, those other companies are larger, but they have to spread their resources across a much broader array of product lines.

I would expect that HYSL has more research dollars to spend specifically on analytical applications and tools than any other company.

In IBM's case, they've already partnered with HYSL and I expect we'll hear more about the deepening of that partnership.

I think Treetop agrees that Oracle's Express is second rate compared to Essbase.

I'm also extremely skeptical of SAP's ability to develop such a massive range of vertical applications. Can they really out invest and outclass the focused vendors in:

Supply Chain
Retail
SFA
Customer Support
Document Management
Data Warehousing
Middleware
Database tools
Facilities management

Wow!

As you know I remain a believer in the analytical space and hyperion's positioning. They are becoming a complete solutions provider capable of providing a complete suite of tools and applications for analytical analysis for it's customers. They are the only company focused on supporting data from a broad range of legacy and off the shelf applications.

I think most of their customers and prospects are operating in a heterogeneous environment.

Let's keep the discussion going.
