DeMil Acquires Exclusive Rights to Patented Munitions Destruction System
HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 17, 1998--DeMil International Inc. (OTC BB:DMIL) announced Thursday that it has acquired the exclusive world-wide rights to the patented Donovan Contained Detonation Chamber (CDC).
Patented in 1996, this contained detonation system is capable of controlled detonations of dated and defective munitions. The CDC System safely and cleanly destroys unwanted ammunition, rockets and mines. It has been in daily industrial and commercial use for the last 10 years at Donovan Demolition Inc. (DDI).
DeMil International Inc. has also named Bob Stringham as president & CEO. Stringham was formerly area director/offset at Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems (NYSE:LMT - news), Marietta, Ga. While at Lockheed Martin, he spent 13 years in Portugal, France and the United Kingdom, overseeing the company's international trade offset obligations to those countries.
DeMil will focus its business on the manufacture, sales, service and support of contained detonation chamber systems to U.S. and foreign governments and agencies responsible for destroying unwanted munitions. Using the Donovan technology, DeMil will integrate the explosion chamber with state-of-the-art air pollution control units to safely, quietly and cost-effectively destroy surplus and dated ammunition, mines and other munitions.
Existing Donovan Contained Detonation Chambers currently meet the environmental requirements of Illinois and Tennessee. DeMil detonation systems will undergo testing to verify compliance with local and Federal environmental regulations in additional states over the next 16 months.
To capitalize on the growing market for the demilitarization of munitions stockpiles, the Donovan detonation system has been modified to withstand shrapnel blasts resulting from munitions destruction. This research and development effort culminated in DDI providing two systems to General Dynamics Ordinance Systems (NYSE:GD - news) at the Milan Army Ammunition Plant in Milan, Tenn. to destroy M155 cluster-bomb artillery shells under a contract with the U.S. Army Industrial Operations Command.
DeMil International Inc. is a dynamic company focusing on the development and marketing of demilitarization equipment and anti-terrorism products to government agencies in the US and international markets.
