I think the tenor of the thread is clear in welcoming your opinions and those portions that are fact. Worst case scenario, btw, was not described. What you did describe was a quite likely scenario.

Spun off shares, in the absence of news, are best kept restricted. Think about it. Without news, the urge to dump would remain. Restricting the shares will stop the bleeding, assuming good news is someday released.

If all our shares had been restricted, the stock would never have fallen to these levels, would it? Sure, news is released, restriction lifted, and the stock would see some pressure on the sell side. However, because of the good news, at least some buying would kick in. Had this spin off been done at $1 and the shares restricted until news on the well were released, we wouldn't have fallen to the price we are at now, that's for sure. Now, we need great news to come off from the current levels of mid teens.

Restricting shares, as much as it hurts in the short run, is actually a pro-shareholder action in many instances...especially when you're waiting and waiting and waiting as we have been.
