Who the heck sells 100 or 300 shares of a $2 stock? Nobody except MMs. Why the so called NASDAQ "market" premits such charades is beyond me.

Answer to your question: Those of us who only have $1000 to invest (or less) can only afford 100 to 300 shares of a $2 stock. With internet brokers charging commissions now under $10 in some cases, it's economical. I agree with you that a full-service broker charging $50-$100 in commissions would make this trade silly, but I bought 300 shares last week.

I think you are looking for a conspiracy where there is not one.
