Why the buy and hold theory doesn't always work..
I got a letter from someone this evening saying she held onto a portfolio of 10 stocks she purchased before the rally... Not bad she made about $14,000 in 10 days.. But this was an exceptional rally, and that really wasn't that much. Today her $14,000 profit is now 9,000 and she says: That's okay I'll wait for tomorrow morning and if the market is down I'll sell.. Okay.. So what happens then? She sells the rest of her profit into weakness, ending up with 7 or 8? Or if she's lucky the market rebounds and she's back on the high horse.

Wouldn't it have been better to take the $14,000 dollars after 4 days and wait for another opportunity to go long (she can't go short).. Just a thought.
