To David and all:

I own the MRK drip, and I am very pleased with the return I've earned the last two years. I am dollar cost averaging month to month by contributing the same amt every month. Kicking myself for not investing last month because felt the overall market ripe for a correction. Norwest Bank of Minnesota administers the plan. A $5 charge is deducted from each voluntary contribution which can only be made monthly. I don't believe investors can purchase their first share directly from the company. For additional info contact Norwest at (800)613-2104--->8:30am-4:00pm. Each share was priced at $64.6434 at the beginning of the year. I'll let you do the math and calculate the return based on the current close. Happy Holidays.
