JP,

Which of us does not lie in the course of day-to-day events? And I don't mean merely the simple negating of the truth, such as "Black is White."

Have you ever worked for a corporation? Made a sales pitch? If so, did you lay out ALL the facts to the prospective customer? Emphasize and make certain the customer was at least as fully aware of the negatives and shortcomings of your product or deal as he was of the positive aspects? If you didn't, isn't that also a form of falsehood?

Have you ever drafted a report or a briefing HONESTLY, and then been told by your boss to cut out all of the potentially negative items, and even some items which might have induced awkward questions? If so, what was your reaction? and what did you finally do?

Have you ever felt good about a deal, because you had 'beaten' the other guy, perhaps because you didn't make full disclosure?

Jimmy Carter told us that he had "lusted in his mind" and was pilloried for the truth. Apparently you yourself are even purer than he. Recommend you run for President, or at least Congress. I need someone to vote for.

In case you can't tell, I consider hypocrisy a much uglier sin than lying, though I'm not fond of that either. But I do it upon occasion.
And you are wrong. Yes, indeed I CAN blame the partisan republican wolf pack which was so eager to bring the President to bay that it was willing to pay any price, including irreparable damage to the reputation, power, and glory of our nation. And they did the damage knowingly and with malice aforethought. Yet now that same wolf pack howls a different tune when some of its own indiscretions begin to appear in public.

What Clinton did was stupid. But it was a relatively trivial sin, affecting only him, Monica, his immediate family, and his God (As I recall, his God reserves judgement unto himself). That is, until partisan politics decided that any price was reasonable to pay in order to embarrass him; decided to make this country the laughing-stock of the world, the Great Clown of Governments, to damage the country more than 70 years of Soviet Union or Communism ever did, merely to try to embarrass a political opponent. Ken Starr, with the help of our press, has done what Stalin, Khruschew, Gromyko, Brezhnev, Tito and Mao never succeeded in doing--making the United States of America a circus.

regards, jbn3
