I cannot tell for certain whether perjury was involved. The thing that I read said that Crane was deposed twice before he admitted the affair. I have to believe that he perjured himself in the first deposition. In any event, it certainly was statutory rape and there is a long comparison (in Roll Call) to the Clinton allegations and the fact that Crane coached the girl about what to say she went on to deny the affair in interviews and depositions. Under the standards set by Starr, Crane committed felonies, and he was basically given a slap on the wrist by the Congress. He didn't even have to pay the 1.5 million for the investigation.
