The NDS source code is protected by patent/copyright. However, this has not stopped MSFT in the past, as evidenced by their behavior after entering into sharing agreements with other companies. The point I was trying to make is that HOPEFULLY NOVL with a tech savvy CEO will be watching for this and they DEFINITELY have the cash to fight vigorously if someone tries to "co-opt" their product. Maybe MSFT doesn't even see NDS as a threat. MSFT is supposed to have a great x.500 directory in 5.0, when and if it ships.
