I have to admit a white lie. I sold Nextel Wednesday, at the close. A point and a half gain on Nextel, for one day, tells Al to pull out and be happy. Was going to buy it back today, however, Friday still haunts me. I know you are in for the long run, but, I haven't seen my actuarial tables lately, also being an accountant I know that numbers don't always tell the truth. So, for Nextel stock, short term will suffice. Besides, Ed and Ken have scared me, I owe them thanks.
My son works for a heavy equipment rental co. driving one of those 500 HP diesel trucks that deliver those big graders and dozers. They have 50 Nextel phones, direct connect all over the place. They even use the phones to talk to each other when in their own yard. Reception is not perfect in Southern California, often, voices are hard to understand. Maybe the truck engines are too loud, or, Nextel has a long way to go to improve quality. This means nothing toward the stock valuation, however, in order for communication to be truly successful, you have to be able to understand the person on the other end.(VBG)
I don't need a phone yet, I walk around talking to myself all day, however, I am always at close range and my direct connect doesn't even require a button to be pushed. I must admit, sometimes, the voice quality needs improvement, but I just accept the malfunction and write it off under the fifth amendment.
