Richard Schmidt, Editor of Stellar Stock Report, sees many reasons to buy stock in Compaq (CPQ). But to Schmidt, the Alta Vista search engine is one of the most compelling arguments for investing in the world's number one PC maker. Compaq acquired Alta Vista when it bought Digital Equipment Corp. and he says it far exceeds the search technology used by the "high flyers" of today. "In today's world of mania pricing for Internet search companies, Alta Vista on its own would be worth more than all of Compaq and Digital combined," Schmidt says.
