<<I was disappointed with today's segment from Herb Greenberg at the Street.com

Herb did a hatchet job on the Mach 3 stating that 50% of the people that e mailed him did not like it.>>

Herb also mentioned that <gasp> the company is offering rebates on the new razor. He seemed to think this somehow showed weakness in the product line. I guess he's decided that Gillette's classic "give away the razors and sell the blades" strategy is inappropriate for the new millennium.

I happen to be short Gillette, so I guess I shouldn't mind Herb slamming the stock. The reasons he gave were so lame though, it almost made me want to cover. Focusing on the Mach 3 was ridiculous, it's impossible to predict the future of the product at this point. Meanwhile, the guy who loves to point out "high" PE's of companies growing at 40% or better fails to mention that Gillette is projected to grow at only 15% but sports a PE over 30. He also made no mention of the battery division, where there are some legitimate questions.

CNBC, if you insist on putting a lightweight in this spot, please bring Alan Abelson back to the tube. He's not much sharper than Herb, but at least he's funnier.

FWIW,

Mark
