My sources are saying that CPQ and LU have MANY people "in the area" to continue exploratory discussions and keep an eye on things! NN made an ill-conceived offer, and Compaq got cold feet in the midst of digesting Digital, but the slate is now clean and a new round of activity is in the offing! The bottom line is Cabletron represents the BEST VALUE in the networking sector and ANY serious CFO would tell you so! Look for CS to get a "surprisingly" high buyout offer! At a current $10 a surprising buyout would be at least $10 higher...one caveat however, Craig Benson has already said he will not settle for less that $35!!! $tar.
