I do not call it an upside surprise when Intel reports a number that is below where the estimates were at the beginning of the quarter. The only reason, outside of the most recent quarter, that they reported "upside" surprises is that they guided down estimates throughout the quarter. The fact remains that at this time last year, the average estimate for FY98 was about $5.00. The actual number will be $3 and change. You don't see a decline like that when you have upside surprises.
