I don't get it

I must say, I just don't get it. AAPL is simply NOT reacting to any news about its stock. G3 sales up, who cares. iMacs selling like hotcakes, who cares.

The only "bad" news of any import seems to be the Korean clone thing.

If that's the answer, though, then answer me this, riddle-man:

Why is Compaq following us down on the slippery slope?
"A $499 PC affects the whole PC industry, duh." That fails to explain why GTW and DELL are both apparently ignoring this "horrible" news.

GTW used to follow CPQ and AAPL in valuation. If that were still the case, AAPL should now be at $38 3/4 and CPQ at 32 7/8. Don't bother checking the ticker--they aren't even close.

I'm clueless. I must say I feel sorry for those holding September options (not me--just Jan). A 17 1/2 forward multiple on a company who grew sales 108% (!) in one month is absolutely obscene.

Off my soapbox now,

Andrew
