Both parts are true. Being a public official is supposed to be about public service - you need to put the needs of the nation above your own. Clinton is not at any real risk of serving jail time (too embarrassing for us all - he'd be pardoned), so shouldn't he do what's best for the nation instead of what's best for himself? Isn't that what we want from our public officials? If you're going to do only what's in your own self-interest once you get into office, you don't belong there.
