Tietmeyer sees no global recession looming

LUCERNE, Switzerland, Sept 18 (Reuters) - Bundesbank president Hans Tietmeyer said that, despite problems in some regions,
he did not see indications that the overall world economy was threatened by recession.

Tietmeyer, speaking to journalists before delivering a speech at a Swiss symposium on the euro, also said financial markets
movements had been exaggerated somewhat in recent weeks, but had made some corrections in the meantime.

In commenting on monetary policy, he said central banks must decide policy based on their own individual domestic factors.
