Did the French ever fix their banks up?

Not really. The situation had gotten a little better on the back of the strong growth Europe has experienced the last few years. But little happened on the restructuring plans, prosperity seemed to have dulled the urgency. And now that the emerging markets are getting hit guess how we find at the top of the lending tables? at least as a percentage of assets. The French banking system is not in the same league as Japan by a long shot but among the G-7 they are the next most questionable. Credit Lyonnais in particular seems to carry some big question marks and drags down the whole sector by association.
