Well no Pedar, It's not so clear. The market does not have to react to your limit order to short. You would still need an uptick from the market - according to my broker and past experience. The reason, as I'm sure you are aware of, for the uptick rule would be undermined if short selling was so easy.

Wish it were true though. You could of course always get a market uptick and your trade would go through. But don't rely on it.
