I think that looking at the valuations of the LatAm telcos I would much rather be invested in a TMX or TBR at 3-4 EV/EBITDA than a TLK at 7-8x EV/EBITDA.

Indonesia is a country (still) run by crooks. I do not trust the new government as far as I can throw them. Will they take away TLK's monopoly? Will they raise tariffs enough to stop TLK going bankrupt? Are they still paying their bribes to the right people? I have no answers to any of these questions but neither does anyone else.

TLK is a gambling stock. It may go up or down but no one knows what's happening to the fundamentals.

At $6-7 I thought TLK was a screaming sell. At $2-3 I don't have a strong opinion on where the price is going. I only know one thing. If you buy TLK (as an investment) you have to be in for the long term by which I mean 5-10 years. Indonesia will not recover for a long, long time. I can see many opportunities in Asia and around the world that are just as bombed out but are cheaper and have much better fundamentals.

Just my 2c worth.

What do you think?
