Henry,
I agree Sanders question was loaded with possibly incorrect and biased opinion regarding the IMF. Intelligent was a poor choice of word, may be "prepared" is more appropriate. Being no IMG expert, if I am in a position that I HAVE to vote on funding, I would have to look at more data. This brings me to my point about Greenspan. His attitude of "I am so smart, I give you some mumble jumble, and therefore you should approve giving a big chunk of money to someone who you will have no control over" simply won't cut it.
As for reforming the IMF, that is such as old story. In fact the first time I ever heard of IMF many moons ago, I thought the full name of the organization was IMF Reforms. How many times do we want to believe this lip service? IMF will never reform is you keep giving them money. Reform first, then we will think about funding it. Having read Stanley Fischer and other articles on the IMF web site, I have no faith that it is appropriate to give him so much money. Nothing really personal, I just think it is too big a job for any body of individuals.
May be I am just too critical but shouldn't we expect a little more bang for a very big buck?
