Off subject (WorldBoard)...

I read an interesting article in Wired a few months back where they talked about augmented reality glasses. Imagine if facial recognition software was built into the glasses...It could superimpose the name of everyone you have met...No forgotten names, no embarassment!

With WorldBoard, if everyone carried around a portable GPS system, the system could recognize everyone based only on their location. A system like this seems improbable (especially a government controlled system) due to Big Brother paranoia.

What would be cool is if the world was inventoried and by donning a pair of glasses, everything physical around you also had data associated with it, superimposed over the natural scene. There could be both public and private information for any physical object in the world. You could tag objects that only held significance for you and/or your friends. Instead of your own personal home page, everything in the world that you found significant could be imbued with personal and historical information that could be viewed either publicly or privately.

The glasses would require wireless communication to the server which would compare your location to a database of information. This seems very feasible and very, very useful.

This is an eye-opening idea...I don't know why I didn't think of it!
