Great post. CPQ has stated publicly several times that they are not in the software business. They have a lot of good technologists both at Tandem and at DEC. What is the best way for CPQ to leverage that asset? Use it to create a market where CPQ's hardware wins.

IF AV generated a billion in revenue, or 2 billion, which I regard as virtually impossible, it would be a huge success story in its own right, and in the context of internet companies. This would, however, be relatively unimportant in terms of overall CPQ revenue.

CPQ needs to stick to their knitting and execute on their core business plan. If they do that we will all be quite happy with the results, no matter what happens to AV. If they don't do that, AV won't help much. JMHO...
