Sun Micrososystem's chief scientist was in Sydney this week to promote ubiquitous Java technologies. For example, motion detectors and brakes in an automobile that both run Java and communicate using internet protocols. He claimed there are already a billion devices running Java.

The potential for ODIS in all of this is quite fascinating. I think ODIS is cementing a position of clear leadership in the Java market. That is why I do not rule out the possibility of ODIS one day being gripped by a fever like that surrounding Amazon etc. I'm not counting on it by any means, but on the other hand it sure is a possible scenario.

We've all seen the hokey projections like "If the world had 100 billion Java devices, and ODIS earned just $1 revenue on 1% of them, that would be $1 billion in revenues". These kind of projections are clearly a bit over the top. They are unlikely to happen, and the good thing is that ODIS stockholders can still make plenty of money without relying on this kind of grand idea.

I shall now return to planet Earth ... <VBG>
