I hope you dont mind if I jump in.
AS you know, I dont believe in the devil, or any supernatural evil.
I dont believe Sam is a pawn of the devil, nor do I believe he believes in witchcraft.
My own personal beliefs are probably closer to Sams than they are to chrisitianity. the exception is that I dont think the church is evil, or that people who practice christianity are gullible fools. I personally know many people who practice christianity, and do it in a such a loving, spiritual way, with such contentment that I believe they are on a path to enlightenment. I also think there are other paths.
My own path is probably closer to Sams, as I think our souls are a piece, or a part, or an aspect of god. I am not sure which would describe it better, and am not sure the verbiage is all that important anyway. I do we believe that aspect of divinity within ourselves is what
creates an interconnectedness between us. I also believe that we come back many times until we get it right. I think getting it right is about getting to a point where you fully realize and live like there is nothing except love and compassion. I personally dont think God gives a hoot what you call him and how you call him, as long as you realize the conection with him, and try to progress to the point where
that aspect of divinity called your soul can totally and completely reunite with him.
Maybe you call that new age, or maybe you call that something else, but ultimately whatever it is called is just a label.
the point where I disagree with Sam is the point where name calling and disparaging remarks come in. Not that it isnt two sided many of times, but you have to expect that if you want to tel millions of people that they are following a fairy tale in his opinion.
I guess what I am saying is that I believe there are many paths to enlightenment, and that sincere beliefs and attempts to reach that path, if practiced with love, tolerance and compassion, will get you a long way.
Now I have to go because Shirley MacLaine just astral projected into my living room and shes knocking over all my crystals and pyramids:-)
